About Me

My photo
On a quest to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I enjoy conversation with good friends over a glass of wine or a cup of coffee. If I could be anywhere on earth, I'd choose to be on the beach, in the moonlight, with my feet buried in sand up to my ankles.

Things I'd Like To Say To My Younger Self

You are unique.
You will come across few people during your lifetime who think like you. Just because you’re different from everyone else, don’t assume you’re wrong. Spend time getting to know yourself. Embrace your intuitive nature and learn to trust it.
 You are beautiful.
You don’t need to change anything. Don’t waste time comparing yourself to the girls around you, and definitely don’t judge yourself according to what you see in magazines and on TV. Don’t let anyone else define beauty for you.
Be happy as often as possible.
You cannot make anyone else happy. You are not responsible for anyone else’s happiness but your own.
 Your family isn’t perfect.
Look around you and find some good role models. Study them carefully because things are always different than how they look on the outside.
 You are amazing.
Avoid anyone who doesn’t realize this.

Sleepless, yet not awake.
I quiet my thoughts, but they will return,
and thankfully so, or the night would be longer still. What makes consciousness struggle so against its opposite?
I long for the quiet nothingness of sleep.
Get up and do something, the experts say.
I have no energy for that.
I lie here and worry instead.
What’s the long-term effect on my body and my mind?
Surely at some point the need to sleep will overcome the need for vigilance.
Where will I be when that happens?
Bleary-eyed I stumble through another day, both dreading and desiring the night.
